What confuses people is that the producers claim in the liner notes that it is DSD quality "just like a Super Audio CD". Get the album titles; "Ain't that Good News" or "Keep Movin' On". There are truly great moments here in the music and songs if you want a "best of" CD of Sam Cooke -- BUT if you are looking for an SACD like I was this is NOT it. But it is not that quality. They are true SACD's. It sounds no better than a normal CD. Amazon does not say it is but so many reviews said it was I bought it in hope because of the great songs included that are not on the available SACD's.
I bought this cd for a friend for her Birthday and she loves it and listens to it a lot.she says she finds Sam Cooke's music very relaxing.
His final gift, "A Change is Gonna Come" was an incredible glimpse as to where he was about to take us. I was very impressed with this collection of Sam's hits, it had a nice variety and included a couple of songs from his Gospel days as the front man for the "Soul Stirrers". Sam, you're music, innovation & inspiration lives on in us your fans. R.I.P. I'd recommend that any real fan of his get that material as you see a 19 year old Sam cut his musical teeth as both a singer and songwriter with that band.As for this album, probably the best overall collection of his material in sometime, although "Frankie and Johnnie" doen't show up. I've always been moved by Sam Cooke's music, he was one of the most incredible poets the world has ever seen and that voice was a Gift from the Creator of the Universe to each of us, his listeners. He was one of the most important forces in music period of the 20th century and was taken from us far too soon.
GREAT COLLECTION. ALL THE SONGS I REMEMBER LISTENING TO AROUND THE HOUSE GROWING UP. TELL'S US WHAT A GENIUS AND WONDERFULL SINGER SAM WAS. HIS STORY IS AS INTERESTING AS HIS SOUND IS BEAUTIFULL.
i love this cd Sam cooke was great i listen to this cd all the time
